Explore 6 days for Treking Kilimanjaro cost via Rongai route, Rongai route is the only route that approaches the mountain from the northern side near the Kenyan border the route is still new and not very popular. It may be considered an easy route because of its gradual slope, it is recommended for those who wish for a more solemn climb and can be the best during rainy season as the north side receive less precipitation. The scenery in this route is not very popular but it offers spectacular view of the mountain and passes through true wilderness area is almost its entire trail. Our rongai itinerary has a seven or six day’s option, with the seven days variation offering an extra day for acclimatization at mawenzi tarn. This is also the only route that has a real chance of spotting wildlife including colobus monkeys in the first few days of climbing.

Day one (1): From Nalemuru Gate to Simba Camp

•Elevation (m): 915 – 1950-2750

•Distance: 9 km

•Hiking time: 4 hours

• Climatic condition montane forest

After an early breakfast in your hotel you guide will pick you and start with a three hour drive to rongai gate where all formalities will be handled and thereafter start our hike that will first pass though maize and potatoes plantations and then to montane forest. Our climb will be consistent but gentle and will lead us to our first camp which offers magnificent view of Kenyan plains.

Day two (2): Treking from Simba Camp to Kikilewa Camp

• Elevation(m): 2750- 3600

• Distance covered 17 km

• Hiking time 7 hours

Climatic condition Moorland

On this day we ascend to the second camp where lunch will be offered. After that we will leave the direct path and diverge across the moorland on a smaller trail toward mawenzi side peak to kikelewa camp in a sheltered valley. Here we will get dinner and an overnight’s rest.

Day three (3): Treking from Kikilewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

• Elevations (m): 3,600 – 4,330

Distance covered: 7 km

• Hikingtime: 4 hours

Climatic condition: Semi desert

Immediately after breakfast we will face a short but steep climb up grassy slopes, which will offer us magnificent superb all round views. After that we leave the vegetation behind and head mawenzi tarn camp which is located in the amazing cirque directly beneath the towering spires of mawenzi peak. after this short hike we arrive at mawenzi tarn hut camp where we will spot the mesmerizing undried lake with neither an outlet nor inlet , here we will get lunch and dinner followed by an overnight’s rest.

Day four (4): Treking from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to School Camp

• Distance covered: 8 km

• Hiking time: 5 hours

• Climatic conditions: alpine desert

After breakfast we cross the lunar desert of the saddle in the midst of kibo peak and mawenzi peak to kibo huts at the bottom of kibo’s crater wall. Take as much rest as you can here, and preserve your body energy for summit.

Day five (5): Treking to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Camp

• Elevation (m): 4,695 – 5,895

• Distance 22km

Hiking time: 10 -13 hours

• Climatic condition: arctic

• Accommodation: horombo camp

An early rise around midnight and begin our challenging hike to the highest peak in Africa. The path to Gilman’s point is steep, so the hike will be steady and we will have frequent short breaks. From Gilman’s point we keep traversing around the crater rim heading to uhuru peak. After arriving at the peak pictures will be taken and will descend to horombo camp.

Day six (6): Descent from Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate

• Descend (m): 3,690-1,830

• Distance 20km

• Hiking time 5-7 hours

• Climatic habitat: Rain forest

We will have a long descend trek to marangu gate where certificates will be offered and a car will be waiting to transfer us to Moshi.
